**The Signal:** You can add “interactive podcasts” to the list of interactive digital experiences that will stick in the post-COVID world. This new genre of media, which blurs the lines between narrative and gaming, was gaining popularity before the pandemic.

[Solve](https://solvehq.com/podcast/) is the first-of-its-kind interactive podcast in which listeners solve real-life true crime cases by using social media and other platforms to interview suspects and analyze evidence.

The show debuted as an original Snapchat show in 2018, reaching more than [30m](https://variety.com/2019/digital/news/true-crime-content-studio-solve-expands-into-podcasts-raises-20-million-from-elisabeth-murdoch-other-investors-1203433065/) viewers. In 2019 the company launched a podcast and raised [$20m](https://pulse2.com/solve-raises-20-million/) in funding. That’s almost as much as podcast network Gimlet Media raised ([$28.5m](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/gimlet-media#section-web-traffic-by-similarweb)) before it was acquired by Spotify for [$200m](https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/22/startup-podcast-offers-inside-view-of-tech-ma-after-sale-to-spotify.html) in 2019.
