The esports market is booming. League of Legends, the most popular esport, broadcast a world final that drew [more viewers than the Super Bowl](https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/14/league-of-legends-gets-more-viewers-than-super-bowlwhats-coming-next.html) in 2018. Last year the event was hosted in Paris, and tickets sold out [within seconds](https://luckbox.com/esports-news/article/scalpers-list-lol-worlds-2019-final-tickets-for-eu600-plus).

With prize pools of [$34m+](https://www.engadget.com/2019-08-25-dota-2-the-international-2019-win-sets-records.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAGmoscrKo7ELzCk9OtJuloHhWyfociWrITcxfay0I3Oa5GTjSU5Hlbrwo_e7jtBqFct6cQaOzFYUGO6QysAMNz8XKi4vegZZsFUyyi-mB_NhMDO4zgvEZO4-F-E2csQFV1ix2MkQQcgXyf4WLKzkKJIJDlwQt1Ewx3fSAN8qWtN3), esports stars can walk away from tournaments with more money than Wimbledon singles champions.

Esports already has a larger audience than American football and rugby [combined](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesayles/2019/12/03/global-esports-revenue-reaches-more-than-1-billion-as-audience-figures-exceed-433-million/?sh=2c0d3d971329) and is [set to generate](https://www.greenmangaming.com/the-money-game/) more revenue than both the UEFA Champions League and Formula 1 by 2022.
